Thais Montgomery
Bio
Thais Montgomery brings a rare combination of professional playing experience and a genuine passion for developing young athletes. A native of Brazil, volleyball was not just a sport for Thais, it was her profession. Beginning at just 12 years old, she was paid to play for Melhoramentos in Campinas, one of Brazil’s premier volleyball clubs, and dedicated the next nine years of her life to the game from 1997 to 2006. Throughout her career with Melhoramentos, Thais trained under multiple elite coaches and developed versatility across three different positions, building a technical and tactical depth that only comes from years of high-level, professional competition. That foundation forged in the demanding Brazilian volleyball system shaped every part of how she understands and teaches the game.
In 2007, her talent earned her a full athletic scholarship to National American University in Rapid City, South Dakota, where she competed as an Outside Hitter and brought her Brazilian volleyball training into the U.S. collegiate game.
Now entering her third season as a club coach, Thais previously coached with Dynamite (13-3) and Premier (12 Diamonds). Before joining Peak, she also coached middle school Varsity and JV volleyball at Victory Family Christian School leading her team to a National Championship in HCAA 2A in 2025. She is also active in private and small-group training for athletes ages 10–14, and has led youth clinics, with an emphasis on passing, ball control, defense, serving, hitting, and volleyball IQ.
Thais believes great coaching goes beyond the technical. She intentionally weaves character development into every practice — because the goal is not just to build better volleyball players, but better people. Her athletes learn to compete with confidence, communicate as a team, and carry themselves with intentionality on and off the court.
